Why a password?

In many museums I have signed releases. These releases state that my photos may be used strictly for scientific purposes and that they may not be passed on to a third party.

These contracts may appear extreme, but they apply in every case until the respective museum voluntarily decides to use the photo material for regular usage on the internet. I will send appropriate inquiries to the museums this year in attempt at getting the material released.

Until permission is granted from these museums, the museum magazines are only accessible with a pass word. Currently, only the curators of the museums, Professor Mark Münzel, certain scientists and individuals with a scientific background have access. Also, for training meetings, lectures or conferences a limited release of the materials is conceivable.

Guide lines

We have decided upon the following preventative measures in order to ensure that the museum contracts (which I have signed) are properly adhered to:

Perhaps these safety standards will eventually convince the museums that all of their entitled ‘copy write’ interests are being met. In this case the photos would become accessible to all who wish to view them. Until then, all of the previously mentioned password restrictions must apply.
